I just re...Ah, thank you Luke for commenting here! I just replied to you on the Fallen and Flawed blog. As I said over there, I'm sorry if my post seems a bit defensive, or even offensive, whichever. I was hashing out things in public, which isn't always a good idea. But I believe I worked it out for myself.

I loved your post on debating William Lane Craig, a personal favorite apologist of mine. I have noticed he uses the same arguments time and again. But it works for him, so I don't much blame him.

The evidence is a tough thing. I believe that God, by definition, is unquantifiable (a new favorite word of mine). How do you present evidence of something you cannot see and cannot touch? Through various philosophy of religion, biblical history, and Bible history classes, all of which challenged my faith, I am confident I have the necessary evidence that I'm not believing something silly. The problem is convincing you or anyone else that this is such. I have a tough time taking that knowledge in presenting it in a way that isn't a trip to the butcher. Four years of undergrad studies isn't near enough, at least for me.

As I said before, it's okay for Christians to hold certain beliefs that work as evidence for the Christian but the problem is when those arguments are used to try to convince or discuss with an atheist. Christians start with the assumption that there is a God. Atheists begin with the assumption that there isn't. To say that God does not need to conform to logic is fine, God created logic and reasoning just as he created the heavens and the earth, but you and I both know that's not good enough evidence for some nonbelievers. All I can do is share my faith earnestly and hope I don't make myself or God look like fools.TinyKinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07287064202745014288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6758946369580184635.post-83640137321797721122009-04-30T22:35:00.000-05:002009-04-30T22:35:00.000-05:00"It boils down to atheists simply believe they are..."It boils down to atheists simply believe they are smarter than Christians."

Holy crap no. Much of my blog is spent responding to theistic philosophers who are much, much smarter than I am.

"They want evidence for something that cannot be proved or disproved."

Um, yes. I want evidence. If you give me no evidence, than your claim has just as little going for it as all the other claims that fail to give evidence - for example every other religion ever, astrology, pseudosciences, ad infinitum.Lukehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12968634190280933116noreply@blogger.com
